A couple quick reviews w/ update

So I will start, it's been awhile since I've done a review, but it has also been awhile since I've read a book.
I will be reviewing my 5 last read books, then a quick update on me.

Under the Bold text there will be **Spoilers** lots of them.

First book:
Bewitching the Werewolf by Caroline Hanson
I gave this a rating of 4.5 stars

This is a great book. It is a little adult, even if they don't go into great detail.

I truthfully think the whole werewolf alpha thing is a little over played in erotic novels, but overall, if the writer can set the tone, usually the book is great. Caroline Hanson did a terrific job.

I find Zack's mom to be a complete and utter bitch.

Meghan isn't the brightest of people, and she follows her hormones a bit too much, but I liked how the whole scene in her room played out. In the end it worked out anyways, because she wasn't able to go with him to the charity thing, but still decided to go in disguise, allowing Zack the chance to realize his mate was somewhere in the building. On a side note to that, how would he not have known when he entered her house not even an hour before that, that she was his mate, since he felt her presence immediately, and then again when she came the next day.

I found a few plot holes in this, but if you try to pay attention to them, the book itself is absolutely wonderful, and a good read, but I only suggest for a mature audience.

A Job From Hell by Jayde Scott
I gave this a rating 4 stars

13631102I had a problem with Amber right from the start, my main problem was that the writer couldn't make up their mind if she was over weight of absolutely perfect, as she was referring to herself many times.

Still on the subject of Amber, I just wanted her to get Cameron out of her mind, even before she called him and a different girl answered. Being a teenage female, I know a guy that isn't right to a girl, and he definitely wasn't right. But I also didn't like the whole Aiden and Amber soul mate thing, especially if he wasn't willing to tell her right away that he was a vampire.

Aiden struck me as quite naive, Amber struck me as just dumb,  Clare didn't make much of an impression on me, Aiden and Cass quite amused me, Blake I just didn't like, Harry and Greta, I feel sorry for them, they'd been working there so long, but never knew that they we're working with vampires, well until they scared off Blake.

 Sleepers by Megg Jensen
I gave this a rating of 5 stars

12101774I loved the plot, I feel as if this one hadn't been touched on too much, or tarnished too badly. At first I was confused, they had the foreigners that they allowed, Lianne, Kellan, and Bryden, but how could they have been so naive as to think that those 3 wouldn't have some sort of hate for the kingdom that attacked and 'destroyed' they're land and their peoples hope to live.

I hate Kellan from the beginning, something about him just bothered me, and throughout most of the book you hear absolutely nothing about Bryden, even though I'm sure she'd think of her old friend more often then when she'd see him. I felt as if they were both using her when her powers awoke, saying she had to choose one side and if she didn't choose the right side, she was going to lose everything.

I hated Albree, for lots of reasons. She was rude, invasive, thought she owned everything, manipulative, conniving, and just down right a bitch. I'm glad Lianne killed her, someone needed to put her in her place, it was a bit over board, but oh well, and Lianne knew that and she felt horrific about it. Mix Kellan up with Albree, I can tell you he's just one of those guys looking for power, and a bit of fun.

Towards the end it got happy, Mags was safe, Trevin was safe, Albree was dead, Lianne knew the truth about Kellan, Bryden was saving her. Then comes her twin whom I cannot remember her name, it has been a week since I've read it, and a little war that the idiot king surrenders right away. All of this after she gets aboard a ship, changes, then is forced back to the land. She goes to save the baby with her twin, only to have Kellan yet again try to get back at her, and stabbing her twin in the heart, and while her twins dying, he never does anything. Then she goes in there and knocks him out then saves the baby.

The ending killed it for me, the Dallagans, the race Lianna, Bryden and Kellan are, simply took over the Fithians land, the rest of the books characters, because they were lazy arrogant ass holes, who didn't want to preserve they're own land, and used magic and destroyed it themselves, only that we know they're going to do it again, and then again.

Hidden & Revealed by P.C. Cast & Kristen Cast
I gave these each a rating of 4.5 stars

13539556I love the HoN Series. Yes Zoey pisses me off, and in Hidden, she just keeps doing, she just can't seem to do anything right, and she starts trying to get other people to do it for her. She's afraid to talk to her friends her boyfriend, her High Priestess, and most of all her BFF.

I think she should have taken things into her own hands long ago, but she does need to find an outlet, and she needs to lose the seer stone. Now. That thing has been causing problems since she got it, yea it saved her and her grandma, reverting Neferet back into Emily, the girl she used to be, the one who was raped and had her innocence taken away by her own father, but it's almost as if it's only there occasionally.

17286663In Revealed, I am against Aphrodite telling Zoey about her vision, and I like that she was able to work with Shaylin, the young girl with true sight, but with Zoey finding out the hard way, that wasn't right. I feel Aphrodite should have taken a precautionary measure, by simply telling Z, she had a vision about her losing her temper, and she needed to get that shit under control, and warned her that she was going to be watched, to make sure everything was going okay.

I've always loved the switching POV that the Cast's use in most of the HoN books, it gives it a different feel, your not like Nyx, but you get to see things from different point of views.

Also speaking of Nyx, Erebus was on earth, but Nyx didn't know of it all the time, why did he go to earth, just to piss Kalona off more. Also why can't Nyx help find Neferet instead of letting Thanatos just sit and wait for her to come up.

In the end it took me a little while to realize what had happened, in Aphrodite's vision she saw Z get thrown in jail, and saw lots of dead bodies, with the words I deserve this going through her head. I can't wait til the next book when Aphrodite realizes that she saw where Neferet was going to strike and never knew it.

Now time for a quick update.

  1. I am currently reading Dark Star by Bethany Frenette and Insight by Jamie Magee. I already love Dark Star, but I just can't get into Insight.
  2. I am 3 months pregnant.
  3. I am trying to get more into a reading mood, hopefully it comes soon.

I can't really think of any other updates at the moment, so I will leave it at that, and head off to bed. I have decided I'm posting my reviews more publicly on Goodreads starting tomorrow, with all of my reviews, that I have written.
